Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia and the namesake of our longtime blend of coffees from the area.
Three coffees make up the blend. Sumatra beans from small plot growers provides the earthy, deep, slightly sweet component with a big mouth feel. New Guinea, with original root stock from the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, adds a complete and complex taste. Java, the third part of the blend, adds rustic and sweet notes.
The history of this blend goes back to the days of Alfred Peet who spent years in Indonesia primarily as a tea taster early in his career. We remember him for his idea and inspiration.
