This coffee is sourced from family-owned farms organized around the Asociacion de Productores Cafetaleros de la Cuenca del Rio Maranon (APROCCURMA). Each producer cultivates coffee tree varietals such as Bourbon, Pache and Catimor on five to seven acres of land on average. Other food crops are interspersed with the coffee while organic growing and crop management practices improve quality and increase yield. The fertile volcanic soil, almost a mile high in the Andes of Amazonas contributes to the cup quality. Their efforts qualify them for Fair Trade Organic certification and increases farmer earnings.
