The intensity of flavors in each bean adds depth to the subtle brighter notes in the cup.  This is truly a unique and satisfying coffee, one of Alfred Peet’s favorites and reminiscent of classic Blue Mountain style.

Description

“Butterscotch, Pecan, Rich”

Coffee from this Indonesian island is consistently top quality. The cup is medium-to-full bodied with mild acidity. The flavor is rustic yet elegant and refined. This origin was a favorite of our mentor, the late Alfred Peet; the cup shows off the qualities he admired. Grown high up in the Waghi Valley at the base of Mount Hagen, coffee is cultivated in volcanic soil and harvested from Blue Mountain and Typica trees on the Kimel plantation. The farm is owned by traditional landowners of the Opais tribe and provides housing for workers, schools for their children and medical facilities. Ecological and organic agrarian practices are paramount with pulp from the harvested beans recycled into organic fertilizer and fresh water from the Kimel River used during wet processing after harvest.
