Our new lot of Ethiopia beans proves how stunning and flavorful a washed coffee from the Yirgacheffe growing region can be. The cup is crisp, with floral notes up front and hints of cocoa in the finish. This coffee is very aromatic with a balanced body and smooth finish. We have sourced this coffee from the famous Yirgacheffe district near the Mendero Mountains at the southern end of the Great Rift Valley. Within Yirgacheffe is the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Regional State where our coffee originates from. There, cooperatives dominate and farmers cultivate heirloom and indigenous Ethiopian varietals of Arabica coffee on small plot family owned farms. Ideal conditions over a mile high in the mountains and iron rich red soil supplies trees with nutrients to produce this quintessential Ethiopia Yirgacheffe taste.
