Guatemala coffee is going strong this season! Finca El Injertal is our newest special offering. Lively flavors of caramel and toffee in the cup are balanced by a rich, deeply flavored, smooth finish reminiscent of cocoa and nougat. This coffee comes from a family-owned estate located high up in Huehuetenango in the municipality of La Democracia. Jose Alejandro Solis is a third-generation coffee grower. The opinion of our green coffee broker could not describe his efforts better, that “Alejandro’s farms are some of our most consistent, excellent tasting high grown Guatemalan coffees.” The 173 acre estate is covered in Chalun shade trees looming over the coffee plants, and 32 acres are set aside as a preserved forest of native trees providing refuge for wildlife, earning the estate Rainforest Alliance Certification. Finca El Injertal, as well as its sister farm Finca Huixoc also run by Jose Alejandro Solis, is dedicated to scientific analysis and sustainability amidst a changing climate and increased annual temperatures. Both farms utilize spring water sources which provide year-round hydropower for the mill operations and pristine water for processing coffee. Discover the results of their efforts in the cup.
