A new arrival from the island of Sumatra, our Fair Trade Organic coffee is a very flavorful cup. Deep and rich flavors dominate; one expert cupper described the taste as bittersweet chocolate, molasses, and peat. A very balanced brew with a smooth finish. Locals refer to the region our Sumatra Fair Trade Organic coffee hails from as Gayo land. Located in the Takengon highlands of the Aceh province, many of the farmers are from the Gayonese ethnic group. There, the Koperasi Kopi Gayo Organic cooperative has provided an infrastructure for quality coffee production. KKGO equips over 1,500 farmers with education on best organic agricultural practices and environmental stewardship for their small parcels, often averaging 2.5 acres in size.
