We have sourced another certified Fair Trade Organic Peruvian coffee grown high in the Andean mountains of the state of Amazona. This cup is rich, finishing deeply with full cocoa flavors. Just the right amount of rich, round notes rewards the palate up front; one taster found hints of baked apple, cinnamon, and apple juice.
Cooperativa de Servicios Multiples Sol y Café Ltda (Sol y Café) is a regional cooperative that works directly with 58 local organizations and more than 1000 producer-members in the provinces of Jaén and San Ignacio in the department of Cajamarca, Peru.
On two to three hectares of land on average, rice and cacao is grown alongside the coffee, and each year the soil is augmented with organic material composted from the diverse crops. The coffee is picked, sorted, and washed by hand and then spread out to dry in the high-altitude sun.
